DAY 01 ARRIVAL AT PARO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT:

Upon arrival transfer to Thimphu (02 hrs) Thimphu is a bustling town on the banks of the Thimphu Chhu and set gloriously in the hills of the Thimphu valley. It is home to the Bhutanese Royal Family, the Royal Government to several foreign missions and development projects. Bhutan’s only golf course, a nine-hole circuit is also located in Thimphu.

Thimphu is the only capital city in the world that has no MacDonald, star bucks, bill boards and traffic lights. A must see city that has truly set an example. It is also a place for trekking, bicycling, motor biking and bird watching. Later after your check in formalities are over you will visit, Memorial Chorten, Kuenschholing View Point (Largest sitting Buddha), Tashichho Dzong (Fortress), It houses the secretariat building, the throne room and the office of the king, and the central monk body. Overnight at Thimphu.

DAY 02 THIMPHU

Today we hike to Kuensel Phodrang Nature Hike: Located just beside the largest sitting budha in the world, the hike takes 1 Hr 45 minutes around the nature park. It also gives the views of the Thimphu. Takin preserve National Park – located in the Motithang in Thimphu, a wildlife reserve area for Takin. This was started as a mini zoo, later the King of Bhutan felt that it was improper for a Buddhist country to confine animals for religious and environmental reasons. He therefore ordered the release of the animals and the closure of the mini-zoo on converted into a preserve. The reason for declaring takin as a National Animal of Bhutan on 25 November 2005 is attributed to a legend of the animal’s creation in Bhutan in the 15th century by Lama. The preserve also holds a few Sambar and barking deer. Sangaygang View Point located North West of the Thimphu Valley, get yourself refreshed from the routine life or to ease the tension or just take your loved one or with family in cool evening of the Thimphu breeze. Overnight at hotel.

DAY 03 THIMPHU (TANGO MONASTERY & CHERI MONASTERY (HIKE)

Today we can hike to the Tango monastery, which takes around 1.5 hrs from the road head. The path is well maintained and surrounded by trees. The view of Thimphu city on the way up is stunning, built in the 13th century it’s one of the oldest monasteries in Bhutan and it was built in just two months. The monastery has six temples namely, the Longku lhakhang, the Trulku lhakhang, the Guru Lhakhang, the Choeku lhakhang, the Namsey Lhakhang and the Gonkhang. There is also a natural fountain in the courtyard of the monastery. There is another monastery near to Tango monastery name Chagri monastery or Cheri monastery which was built is 1620 AD. This old monastery is also a nice place to visit.
Return to Thimphu and relax. Overnight at hotel.

DAY 04 THIMPHU – PUNAKHA

After breakfast, check out and drive to Punakha.
Dochula Pass, known as the Druk Wangyal Chortens – the construction of these 108 chortens was commissioned by the eldest Queen Mother, Her Majesty Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuk. The pass is also popular spiritual destination for both locals and tourists because an important (Druk Wangyal Lhakhang) temple is located on the crest of Dochula pass. It offers a stunning 360-degree panoramic view of Himalayan mountain range. Chimi Lhakhang Temple, a Buddhist monastery in Punakha, stands on a round hillock. The Chime Lhakhang square in shape with a golden spire. The building has a golden yellow roof. It has a row of prayer wheels and slates carved with saint images on its exterior walls. There is a small chorten near the entrance to the Lakhang that marks the spot where Lama Kunley subdued the Demoness. Tantric paraphernalia, thangkas, bells, drums, horns, dorjis, and a kangd can be found in the monastery’s prayer hall.

Kunley, dressed in a monk’s robe, is centrally located at the altar, reclining with a ceramic statue of his dog Sachi. Women who come to the monastery seeking child blessings are hit on the head with an ivory, wood, and bone phallus by the presiding Lama.

DAY 05 PUNAKHA SIGHTSEEING AND DRIVE TO PARO.

Morning hike to, Kham Sum Yule Lhakhang (Monastey), Talo Village: The village of Talo (alt. 2,800m/9240ft) which is scattered along the hill slopes, known for its cleanliness and hygiene among Punakha villages, Punakha Dzong (Fortress): Built in 1637 this majestic fortress is built in-between two rivers. The fortress also boasts about displaying itself of unique Bhutanese architecture, Punakha Nunnery: Perched on a ridge amid pine trees and overlooking valleys of Punakha and Wangduephodrang, gleams the magnificent structures of Nunnery Temple.

Early morning short hike to Fertility temple across paddy fields and villages: This Temple was built by lam Drukpa Kuenley (The Divine Madman) in 1499. Its also a great place to take a snap of the sunrise across the village and its paddy fields. Arrive Paro and check into hotel. Rest of the time at leisure. Overnight at hotel.

DAY 06 PARO SIGHTSEEING

Sightseeing: Hike to Tiger’s Nest (This is Bhutan’s most recognizable cultural icon perched 800m/2640ft up a seemingly sheer cliff.) and visit Farm House visit (Picturesque farm houses dot the valley amongst fields and hillsides. We welcome you to enjoy the hospitality of the Paro farmers.), Archery Practice: Archery is the Bhutan’s national game and the distance of the target is around 150 meters. Overnight at Paro.

DAY 07 PARO –VALLEY HAA – PARO

Today morning drive to Haa valley via Chelila Pass: Its one of the highest motorable road at 3988m above sea level, At Chelila Pass visit to Kila Nunnery, later continue your drive and visit the Haa Town and its monasteries. Haa District is one of the smallest among 20 Districts Haa District has an area of 1,706.8 sq.km. It is characterized by a rugged and mountainous terrain, which makes access and delivery of development services difficult as well as expensive. The 57.6 km of Haa-Chunzom and the Haa-Paro highway passes through the district but with only about 44.10 km of internal road connections most of the settlements are not connected with feeder and farm roads. The district has a good network of mule tracks and suspension bridges. Later drive back to Paro. Overnight in Paro.

08 DEPARTURE

Today your trip is over and after breakfast your guide will take you to Paro International Airport to board your departure flight, and you return back with lots of good memories.
